What are the fees?

Our rates range from $40 to $70 an hour. Fees vary depending on whether writing, proofreading, substantive editing, web content development or graphic editing is required, and the length of the work. You may also need to have your document desktop published, or have an index compiled. Whatever your need, you have the option of choosing a sample edit before committing to any work.

Sample edit

Just phone or email Red Lettuce Communications and send your document or a few chapters. We will review and edit part of your document or a paper free of charge and return the edited text with an editing brief/style sheet and a quotation. That way, you know what you're getting before the job is started. It's our way of providing quality assurance and ensuring client satisfaction right from the start.

What you get

On completion of the work you'll receive:

• edited document with 'track changes' and 'comments' or
• printed pages with proofreading markup
• a comprehensive editor's report.

Quality assurance

The editor's report lets you know what reference sources have been consulted, and where further work may be needed before publishing, such as fact checking or missing information. It also shows you that editing has been undertaken to professional standards—the Australian Standards for Editing Practice (PDF 318 kb).
